The Tom Baker Years
The BBC science fiction serial, Doctor Who, which first appeared on UK screens in 1963, has now been part of British popular culture for nearly 50 years and still has a primetime slot on BBC television. Tom played the Doctor from 1974 to 1981 and, decades later, is still warmly remembered for that role. Here you can read an overview of Tom’s time as the Doctor written by Nicholas Pegg and enjoy pictures from each of his stories enhanced by plot summaries from Jeremy Bentham.
