Dear Tom, may you have a lovely birthday, a short winter, a lush spring, and lots of laughter with your family and friends.

Dear Mr. Baker,

I'm a big fan from way back. Though you were not my 1st Doctor, were are a very close 2nd. I have enjoyed watching you as the Doctor and in other shows as well. I really enjoyed your Sherlock Holmes especially. You are a man of many talents and I have followed your career as much as I could from across the pond. I chose a career in the medical field for a few reasons; two of them were because of characters on TV shows. Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley) on Star Trek and Doctor Who (you Mr. Baker and Jon Pertwee - he was my 1st Doctor). The three of you taught me empathy, compassion, and courage and I thank all of you for that. The only one I never got a chance to tell was Mr. Pertwee. God Bless you.

Most Sincerely,

Polly McCaul, MA, PhD, LLPC

Belated New year. I used to see you in Headcorn and it always made my day. Bumping into you was a real treat. Love your voice. Only surpassed by my current Beau's. Voices say so much more than words Tom.

Tom, Happy New Year and 86th Birthday. I want to express my deep appreciation to you for bringing wisdom and wonder to the world. I have no doubt the various characters you portrayed over the years are fairly true to your own nature, especially the most favoured and beloved Doctor Who.

In this current age of unreason it is the Doctor’s intelligence, individuality, kindness and wit that I draw upon to see past those in power who seem rich, but in reality are very poor because they lack all or some of these virtues.

As I travel through time and space, the lessons that I learnt from watching you on Doctor Who that help me boldly forge better paths and build bridges for myself and others.

If you ever visit Whidbey Island, then I’d love to buy you a cup or glass of your favourite brew. Since this isn’t likely, I still say “Cheers and Thank you good sir!” from the Windswept Isles on the Salish Sea.

Hello Tom! I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed reading Scratchman. It was incredibly entertaining and I could really hear your voice throughout it. As a working musician I got a good laugh out of the Doctor's response to Sarah Jane saying the Devil was quite jolly, " It comes from having all the best tunes". You have been my favorite Doctor since I was a kid watching the program on PBS and I've really enjoyed watching the show again on DVD. My girlfriend and I put your autographed picture with your cat on your shoulder in a place of esteem in our house. Thank you for bringing so much happiness into our lives and our home. All the best to you, sir.

Happy Christmas Tom
I have a large collection of reproduction costumes that you wore, and even though im not you, It clearly gives people great pleasure to see even a copy of the original.
I only costume the 4th doctor, but its obvious your version is a timeless iconic example.
I had this young boy wearing a fez walk up to me in a shopping center recently, he must have been only 9 or ten, but he knew "Who" i was.
Hoping you have a great new year.

Dear Tom, Your first episode of Doctor Who aired 45 years ago today. I saw it when it was originally broadcast on the BBC and I thought it was absolute;y fantastic. You were and continue to be amazing as the Doctor. I think the programme survives to this day because of your impact on the role. Wishing you good health and happiness in the future. Well, in all of time and space really!!

Just watching your Doctor Who seasons on disc this Christmas night. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching them as I did when I was young. This time with my wife and doggie. There will always be a special place in my heart for your style of acting and flair for the dramatic. Take care and I hope to meet you one day at one of your appearances.

Back when I was about 9 years old, in the late 70s, I was at a book signing in my hometown, Salisbury. I waited alongside countless people to have my hero sign his autograph. I noticed a large bowl of jelly babies, and took one just before I got my autograph, to save time for the people behind me. My hero offered me a jelly baby, but I said, "I can't, Doctor. I've already had one." He leaned across the table, and smiling, said, "Because it's you, Gary, you can have another one." I was on cloud 9 going home that day, and our car was the TARDUS, and my hero gave me TWO jelly babies. Of course, my hero was Tom Baker. And, you still are, Tom. My eyes swell with tears now, and I love you for the kindness you show to your fans, especially the kids. Bless you, Tom. (Oh, and I love 'Scratchman.' Ian would too, I'm sure.) 🙏❤

I used to work for the BBC many years ago, and was used to television stars looking down their noses at people of less exalted status. So, when I was waiting in the queue at the cashiers in Televison Centre in 1985, feeling very low due to struggling to keep working through illness, and seeing Tom Baker next to me, I wasn’t expecting much in the way of a conversation. To my surprise, my gaze was met with a beaming smile, and, dressed in his Dr Who clothes, he demonstrated such kindness that I have never forgotten that brief encounter. Whenever I see Tom on the television or just think of him, my thoughts are, “Nice man”. That was one of the last times I was at work as I become progressively more unwell, but Tom added kindness and a smile to an otherwise hard time for me.

I hope that Mr. Baker gets this message, which perhaps he has heard a thousand times. My sister, Holly, and I have adored, loved and cared for Tom for many decades. We both have affections for The Doctor, however, My favourite all around performance was Распутин (Rasputin). Time and space did not allow for us to ever meet Tom in the physical, nor does money allow for autographs. However, we hope he is happy, well and loved. He may not get this message, but I had to at least try. - Marie, and Holly.

Just wanted to share with everyone how much I loved the «Scratchman» audiobook. A very fun and -yes- even touching performance that took me back decades ago (ok, the very early 80s) when I was watching Dr Who reruns on PBS and TVO. Except that this time, my grasp of British English is much better (being French Canadian and all)!

Thank you Mr. Baker. I wish you well. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. And thanks again for the two autographed pictures. My wife and I love the one with your cats!

Greetings Tom,
I am hoping you will be making a convention appearance in London during 2020. I would very much like to meet you in person having been a fan since the late 1970s. Have been enjoying all the stuff I sent in to have you sign a few years ago. You'll always be my fave!

Dear Mr. Baker,
I've just finished listening to your reading of "Scratchman" and quite enjoyed it. Takes me back 40 years when I first discovered Dr. Who with "Ark in Space" and I got hooked. I've always had a special fondness for the Doctor, Sarah Jane, and Harry team. Your voice still has the resonance that it did all those years ago and it is a joy to listen to. I'm also a devoted listener to the Big Finish audios, and enjoy the stories as I pop them in to the CD player on the commute to and from work. I get so involved in the stories that I hope for extra heavy traffic so that I can hear the stories in their entirety.
Hope you keep going with the audios, I look forward to every new adventure.
Sincerely,
Edward Mittelsteadt

Dear Tom Baker,

When I was a teenager in Boston, the local PBS station ran your first few seasons five days a week, over and over (Robot to Invasion of Time) for about six years. I think I missed maybe 12 airings altogether. This was long before the Internet, so that was it--those four seasons, over and over. A lot of actors can do a good performance. But it takes real skill to hand in a performance that's still fresh and enjoyable on the sixth or seventh time through.
I hope you make it to America again soon for one of the conventions. Specifically, one in New York, but I realize you have a lot of things on your plate. I wish they still had an address for fans to send you letters, rather than these typed nothings. Anyone can type a fan letter; it takes real effort to put it all down on paper and find a stamp and mail it in.
Anyway, I'd also like to thank you for that cameo in Day of the Doctor. You are the best.

Dear Mr. BAKER,
Thank you for your autograph. You were my first Doctor and the best one. I lost my sister Yvette, but I will always remember the many evenings that she and I would sit together and watch your episodes.
I know you have done much more than Doctor Who, but you and the role you had allowed me to spend many happy days in fellowship with sister. I wish to bless you and your family. If God wills I will see you one day, even though I live in America. Please consider going to one of our conventions.
You are a blessing to me forever.
Sincerely and with love and eternal gratitude, your friend, Harry Mckinney

Hi Tom,

You have always been my favourite Doctor as your humour just made it that much more enjoyable for me to watch Doctor Who as a child (that and your Jelly Babies) and you still make me laugh just as much all these years later.

One of my earliest memories of watching Doctor Who is from around age 5 when a colleague of my mathematician father had come to visit and watched "Revenge of the Cybermen" with me one night. The next day he woke up to find one of my teddy bears in his bed and as it hadn't been there when he went to sleep he spoke to my parents about it who then questioned me. I told them that I had put it there in the middle of the night because Angus' wife, Barbara, wasn't with him that trip and I had gotten worried he might be lonely and scared. They said he of course missed Barbara very much but didn't understand why I thought Angus would be scared and I told them it was because of how scary the Cybermen and their pet Cybermats had been in the episode we had watched together. I remember we were sat on the sofa together and he put his arm around me when I got scared. I wasn't scared once I went to bed as I had all my teddy bears to keep me safe and I just wanted him to have one too.

Years later I found out the reason Barbara hadn't come with Angus for the first time ever was because she had passed away. My parents just hadn't wanted to tell me.

Thank you for being exactly who you are and for your ability to entertain me both as a child and an adult. ❤️
